A few on the Right are mocking Obama. Many on the Left are mocking those who mock Obama. It’s a circle mock!
Legal Insurrection is calling it Dijon-gate. Second post up here:
“I think the answer to why the nutroots cannot let Dijongate rest is the inherent insecurity of the left with their hold on power. While the mainstream media and left-wing blogs constantly tell us that Republicans and conservatives are dead politically, I don’t think they actually believe what they are saying.”
Moe Lane at Redstate concurs.
WaPo’s The Sleuth has a story about Legal Insurrection and Hannity’s commentary. Here’s the link they provide to the Hannity forum.
I’m not seeing much at The Corner, nor Malkin, nor Weekly Standard, nor Hot Air. I have a good bet as to why. I’m having trouble finding the Steyn and Ingraham audio on my own, so go to Jason Linkins for it. (But if you are a conservative that cares about this, be forewarned: he is a mocker.)
In fact, Conor Friedersdorf gives us a case of right-on-right mock. A commenter points out that the right is mocking Obama, not criticizing him per se. This is also Moe Lane and Legal Insurrection’s position, as I understand it.
Wonkette forgets about sex for ten seconds to cover the Legal Insurrection post:
“Our jaw dropped somewhere around Update #4, but by Update #7 we were sobbing. It is now at Update #9 and this Wonkette post is taking forever to write because we cannot stop clapping. ART, people, there is ART occurring here.
*This* is how to go fucking nuts, live on the Internet. No offhand one-liners about TelePrompters or Kenya. Child’s play! You’ve got to see Barack Obama order Dijon mustard for a hamburger and write a 9-update cosmic mindfuck of a blog post about it, littered with disastrous jokes left and right (”Mayo” looks/sounds like “Mao” !! !), over the course of three days. So thank you William A. Jacobson, Ivy League Law Professor, because this Internet deserves a better class of wingnut.”
David Weigel, with a nice “Abbey Road” reference in the title.
Doug J. thinks that the whole thing is more than the right-wing getting it some laughs.
Tbogg mocks Hannity. Tbogg mocks Legal Insurrection. Well, it is Tbogg’s job to mock.
Nothing at Sadly, No. I’m sure that will change soon enough.
Now, the Reason/Balloon Juice war started with the burgers, but holding the Mustard. Nick Gillespie in Reason. John Cole, with the title “Reason Goes The Full Wingnut.”
This has already been used, but what the hell:
UPDATE: Frum has a yummy post of facts about who puts mustard on their burger. (H/T: Sully)
UPDATE #2: Linkins continues to mock .”Not since the Battle of Ypres have so many people choked on so much mustard gas!”
UPDATE #3: Just because I didn’t find it, doesn’t mean it is not there: Ed Morrissey:
“Anyway, if Kelly O’Donnell talked over the Dijon moment, it’s probably not because they thought it was the straw that broke the camel’s back, or that Dijon represented an enormous insult to the working-class families that Obama and Joe Biden claim to represent. It’s probably because it’s just mustard.”
UPDATE $4: From New Majority
UPDATE #5: Doug J again.
