The Title Of This Blog Post Will Make No Reference To Any “Senior Moments,” As That Joke Is Beneath Us

The endorsement that wasn’t there.

Rachel Martin and Jake Tapper at ABC:

President Obama today suggested that the health care reform legislation for which he’s pushing has been endorsed by the American Association of Retired Person.

“We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors,” the president said.

At another point he said: “Well, first of all, another myth that we’ve been hearing about is this notion that somehow we’re going to be cutting your Medicare benefits.  We are not.  AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay?”

The problem?

The AARP hasn’t endorsed any plan yet.

The country’s largest advocacy group for Americans over 50 issued a statement after the event saying, “While the President was correct that AARP will not endorse a health care reform bill that would reduce Medicare benefits, indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate.”

Allah Pundit:

Not the biggest lie of the day but a decent-sized catch. Even so, I feel guilty calling him on it. Does anyone doubt that the reliably lefty AARP brain trust really is backing this travesty, even if they haven’t formally endorsed it? It’s like ACORN insisting they weren’t supporting any candidates in the presidential election last year. Surely The One can be forgiven the eminently reasonable assumption that they’re in the tank.

Jennifer Rubin at Commentary

Conn Carroll at Heritage

California Yankee at Redstate:

Counting his whopper that he has not said he was a “single payer supporter,” that’s two lies in one town hall meeting. What else is Obama lying about? Obama cannot expect the American people to believe anything he says about Obamacare when the record shows he is not telling the truth.

Tom Maguire:

The shorter Obama town hall on health care:

I was for single payer before I was now and always against it.

The AARP has endorsed my bill, or some bill, or something.  I wish.  (Obama may have killed a few grandmothers with that misinformation.)

We need a public option which will be as lame as the Post Office in order to keep the insurance companies honest.  (I am not a Columbia/Harvard genius so I don’t see how this analogy is helpful to Obama’s case; I predict his supporters go postal on this.)

You will not be waiting in any lines. (Lines?  ObamaCare promises waiting rooms replete with back issues of TIME and Newsweek.)

That said, I thought I saw the engaging Obama that won the election last fall, not the arrogant despot that has been on offer lately.

Let’s move on from the old to the young. Robert Stacy McCain:

Among the people randomly chosen to ask questions at an Obama town-hall meeting in New Hampshire was 11-year-old Julia Hall, whose mom just happens to be a big-deal tort lawyer who has given big bucks to Democrat. Also, in similarly random fashion, Julia Hall’s mom, Kathleen Manning Hall was on the New England Finance and Steering Committee for Barack Obama and a coordinator of Massachusetts Women for Obama. And in another completely random occurrence, Mrs. Manning Hall was sitting right next to little Julie at the town hall meeting. People who were randomly surfing Facebook noticed that Mrs. Manning Hall’s profile picture showed her standing next to Barack Obama.

These entirely unrelated coincidences were “surreal,” Mrs. Manning Hall explained to the Boston Globe.

Michelle Malkin:

Manning Hall has donated thousands of dollars to Obama, as has her law firm.

But, you know, um, like Obama said: “I don’t want people saying I just have a bunch of plants in here.”

Oh, goodness. Of course not.

KABUKI!

***

Now, look for Dems to play the kiddie human shield card to the hilt. Anyone who mentions Hall’s political pedigree will be attacked as a vicious meanie stalker. Graeme Frost redux!

  2. Alot of bloggers aren’t too happy with this new iPad.There was 2 much hype over it and lots of people got turned off.You see, I actually see lots of the awesome potential of the device. Third-party soft for composing music, games, newsprints and magazine and FFS books, all kinds of awesome stuff, but IMHO they failed to sell it properly (aside from the books). It smells rather unfinished

  3. Are you going to update this post, I am really interested what will be the next one.
